What Are The Things To Consider Before Installation Of Insulating Mats

For the use as a safety product in an industrial environment by professional personnel, the pressure sensitive mat is designed. When the operator is in the vicinity of the hazard, it provides the protection against the risk which can be eliminated by the isolation power.

This manual covers the use of all the parts of the system and installation of the sensor mats, which is manufactured in various sizes and shapes. By keeping the statutory safety requirement in mind, all the process should be carried out by educated professionals.

Storage Of The Material

Within a certain range of temperature, the mat sensors and control units should be stored. In vertical position, the high voltage insulating mats should be stored.

Transport And Handling

With a certain range of temperature, the mats should be transported. If necessary, similar or original packing should be used with stiffening, to safeguard the mats from flexing and damage. By use of the knives, one needs to unpack so that no damage is done.

One should not lift or pull the sensors by the connecting mats, when the mats being moved into position. In order to avoid excessive flexing, two people are required for safe lifting of the mat.

System Description

There is a control unit and mat, as the system comprises of one or more interconnected pressure. With the detection zone, there are no dead zones. In the specially cut shapes up to the size of the largest standard mat, and in rectangular size, these mats are available. The operating principle and construction for the mats are same.

Held by non- conductive compressible separators, each insulating rubber mats have two conducting plates. For hazardous areas around the machinery, the mats are connected together in series to form a level sensing system. By the control units the mats are being monitored and provides a signal to the machine control circuit.

The resistance of the circuit drops and conductive plates touch, when anyone steps on the mat. The machine is shut down, as this is monitored by the control units. The control units will be detected and output will go in a safe mode, if there is a single electrical fault in the mat.
There are auto reset and manual reset modes that are available.

Manual Reset Mode

After the actuation force has been removed and reset in the insulating rubber mats, the output on signal can be only restored. By releasing and pushing the mounted control unit button, the manual reset is achieved. Even if the mat is not actuated, the output will be off until the signal is received at power on or following the loss and restoration of power.

By removal of the actuating force, the auto-reset mode is achieved. The safety contacts will always be off, after the mat is actuated for both modes. The mats are controlled by a unit via 4 wires, as it is connected to each other.

The unit contactor fault will be detected if the control unit has a cross monitored safety relays and it is possible to configure the unit. For the control units regarding the electrical faults, compliance with the requirements is necessary. When using insulating mats for electrical purpose, compliance with the needs is necessary.

Applications

For the application for which it is intended, it is critical for select the insulating mats for electrical purpose. To determine the risk is reduced to an acceptable level, some applications are combined to use more than one type of safeguarding system.

By sensing the presence on the floor areas, the mats are designed to protect the personal from slip or accidents on the floor and other similar hazards.
